Sponsor A Mule

Despite our best training and rehabilitation efforts, some mules in our care will never be able to leave Lost Meadows because of a chronic medical condition, extreme trauma from abuse, or aggression that makes them unsuitable for adoption

They have no other alternative place to live besides Lost Meadows. Here, they always receive the same routine care as our other groups and are well looked after.

We call these mules our sanctuary mules.

Currently, 53 out of 151 of our mules are considered sanctuary mules.

Each one could use a sponsor to help with their monthly cost of care. For $25 a month, you can sponsor the mule of your choice.

You will receive our yearly calendar, one professional photograph of your mule annually, and recognition on our website for your sponsorship. You can also join the private Facebook group called LMMR Sanctuary to see regular photo updates of your sponsored mule.

Shown below are the sanctuary mules who need a sponsor:

Ruby - WAITING FOR SPONSORSHIP

is an 11 year old mule who was rescued from Chapel Hill, Tennessee. Ruby is very afraid of people, but she definitely has potential to be trained and adopted someday. We are giving her until next spring before evaluating her again. Click here to sponsor Ruby for $25 monthly.

SPONSORED MULES

Clementine - SPONSORED BY KATHLEEN HARMON

is a 20 year old mule who was rescued from McKinney, Texas. Clementine is extremely sweet, but afraid of most people. She could be adopted someday, but it would take a committed person.

Amelia - SPONSORED BY ALEXANDRIA WEBB

is a 20 year old mule who was rescued from Hallsburg, Texas. Amelia can be very sweet but has difficulty overcoming her shyness. We think she may have been treated roughly in her past. She has a hard time making friends, so she lives with our special needs group who are mostly elderly and friendlier towards her.

Baxter - SPONSORED BY KATHY BENNETT

is a 4 year old mule who was rescued from Gilmer, Texas. Baxter is young, wild and very skeptical of people. He may be eligible for training in the future, but for now we want him to grow up in a safe environment.

Edna - SPONSORED BY CYRENEA PIPER

is an appaloosa Molly mule who was rescued from Willow City, Texas. Edna seems like she was well cared for at one point, but is now afraid of people. We are giving her time to come around to us.

Calli - SPONSORED BY PEGGY & STEVE SPILKER

is a 15 year old mule who was rescued from Caldwell, Texas. Calli is a nice lady, but not too fond of people. Maybe that will change someday, but for now she is happy with her friends in our sanctuary.

Eva - SPONSORED BY BETSY LONG

is a 7 year old mule who was rescued from Chesterfield, New Jersey. Eva is an extremely tiny mule, and has learned how to squeeze through very narrow spaces which makes her an escape artist. She is extremely smart, and sneaky!

Mary - SPONSORED BY COURTNEY ELIZABETH

is a 17 year old mule who was rescued from Aguanga, CA. Mary had a broken front left leg when she was rescued, but it had healed in to place and does not cause her any pain. She has good mobility and loves to run around bucking high up in the air!

Roosevelt - SPONSORED BY SHIRLEY WALKER

is a 17 year old mule who was rescued from Dallas, Texas. Some days he is friendly and others he is highly opposed to people. He sure is a looker, though.

Thomas - SPONSORED BY JENNIFER PLUNKETT

is a 14 year old John mule who was rescued in California. He was originally rounded up and branded by the BLM in Oregon. They surrendered him to Lost Meadows where he has made enough progress to be petted on the head and neck.

is a 6 year old mule with aggressive tendencies. We have to be careful around Harrison, but he deserves to live in a safe environment.

Emma - SPONSORED BY BONNIE J DELARE

is an 8 year old mule who was transferred to us by law enforcement in Central Texas. Emma is missing her left eye and used to be so afraid of people that she would bite, but she is slowly learning to trust us and will walk up and take treats from our hands. Lorraine is her very best friend.

Henry - SPONSORED BY MARLA WELCH

One of these is not like the others! Henry is a senior horse who was seized from neglect along with a large group of donkeys by PVDR. Henry was transferred to LMMR and diagnosed with bilateral fibrotic myopathy, which prevents him from being able to move faster than a walk. Henry isn't in any pain, but he is disabled and needs a soft place to live where he will not have to compete for food or risk further injury.

Nora - SPONSORED BY KARI RILEY & PETRA GOODMAN

is a 17 year old mule rescued from a hoarding situation in 2018 involving hundreds of animals, many of which were deceased on the property. Nora herself was almost starved to death and has since been rehabilitated, but the scars on her legs and broken withers tell us she has not had an easy life, so she will stay at LMMR where we know she can be safe and happy for the rest of her days.

Cora - SPONSORED BY BETH DAVIS

is a mule rescued from a hoarding situation in 2018 involving hundreds of animals, many of which were deceased on the property. Cora herself was almost starved to death and has since been rehabilitated. She is friendly but she has some neurological symptoms which prevent her from being a safe candidate for adoption.

Philip - SPONSORED BY MICHELE MASSA

is a 24 year old horse rescued from a hoarding situation in 2018 involving hundreds of animals, many of which were deceased on the property. Philip himself was almost starved to death and has since been rehabilitated, but he has hind end lameness from an old fracture, so he will stay at LMMR where we know he can be safe and happy for the rest of his days.

Reginald "Reggie" - SPONSORED BY KIMBERLY MAY

Reggie came to LMMR when his owner retired from riding. Reggie is not a sanctuary mule but is special enough to have his own sponsor who loves the videos we share of his goofy personality.
